trying to find it but cant, seems they want to hide it as ofcom have forced them to provide this type of line rental and cs is closed now. Bt has a lus and ic line rental but ofcom have forced them to have a bt basic rental also from what i've heard, would suit me find need to know if i can have BB on it.

You can bet its the same rules as the LUS and IC scheme then ie no mobiles in the house, or other forms of communication and no broadband either.

thats what iam trying to find out but the broadband bit is only for lus not ic as ic is a bit different from what i saw on the BT site it did'nt say as much in its t&C compared too lus.

1. Get it in the right forum

2. Don't use words such as "any1" and "teh"

3. ntl:hell was originally an NTL-specific message board, but has since branched out. A single click of the link would have revealed that it is no longer NTL-specific and that it is, in fact, a fine resource for all things broadband-related, along with the thinkbroadband forums (formerly ADSLGuide)

4. Take your tin-foil hat off. BT would not deliberately hide information from consumers because it means their profit margins are a little tighter

...and finally, I think you're talking rubbish. Are you sure the charges you are talking about are not the charges having to be paid by LLU providors? I see no reason why Ofcom would suddenly force BT to introduce a new line rental plan which no one except yourself appears to know about.

some people might not have 58 quid to throw about?! Thats what the big deal might be, :)
Then why would they be looking at having a phone-line installed in the first place?

I sure they wont force you to make calls on it, is that what your asking?

I think you should just forget about it.

As Immulsifier stated earlier on in the thread, the new 'BT Basic' scheme is more than likely going to include similar terms as the existing LUS and IC schemes carry. You won't be allowed to have a mobile phone, for example, have an Internet connetion on the line, use it with other telephone companies (for LLU services) and there will more than likely be a charge limit. Basically, BT are going to do everything they can to ensure that as few people are on this scheme as possible.

Pure and simple, you are not the kind of person this scheme will be aimed at. It would be corporate suicide for BT to allow people to use it in conjunction with Internet connections, and there is no chance that Ofcom are going to corner BT into doing such a thing.

I complained to BT about my line rental (i dont even have a phone on it, its purely for adsl) and they have reduced the rate to £8 per month. Definately worth a go.

The only way to really get on LUS and have DSL, is to join the LUS with no dsl at the property, then order through a 3rd party ISP. I know one person who this worked for.
