BT BB and line rental

If you go for BT Broadband do you also have to pay line rental. ?

it makes a reasonable price BB expensive.

It depends, you can have FTTP without line rental if you want.

If you're asking whether the prices for broadband advertised by BT require you to pay line rental separately, they do not. On their website they have "with home phone" and "without home phone" options.

Depending who you go with. You can order a SoGEA product which is effectively broadband without the PSTN line rental. Not a lot of providers offer it at the moment though.
