BT Broadband Capping?

This may sound silly, but my line was crap when i had MAX ADSL on my line. I asked nildram to put me back to a fixed rate line, with the only loss being the upload and i am never capped. Full speeds on all services like torrents, news site the whole lot.

This is not such a bad idea, may just push BT to give me my fixed rate back as I wont have an issue either if I was allowed & I would get my line back to normal. I dont BT do fixed rate anymore for the home user though, grrrrrrrrrrrr oh well max it will be till vision gets the update so I dont need the net.

Ok you lost me on the last part there. And yes they should be able to make you line a fixed rate line if they wish

BT still dont cap if you were left on the old home2000 2mb adsl the only downside is the 288 upload. was half asleep when I done that message yesterday

I recommend ADSL24, an Entanet reseller. They are all very intelligent and know all about IP profiles, etc.
You will get a far better service with Entanet.

Moved to them from Virgin Media ADSL (BT Line) about a week back. Bloody brilliant, i was getting 8128k sync on my router but low speeds. James (the person i spoke to on the phone) helped me solve the problem even though it ended up being my router/usb wireless device and nothing to do with thier service.

Now getting -->

Been getting slow speeds between the hours of 18.00 - 00.00 for a while now with fast speeds out of those hours (500kbps). This weekend however it's been roughly 150kbps all day. At nearly £30pm for 'up to 8meg' I find this rather disgusting and will definately review my ISP when my 12 month contract expires.

I had the same problem with BT. Speed would be wonderful during the day but from 6pm-12am, it would just slow right down and continually stall out. I'd have to reset the modem at least 3 or 4 times a week.

I moved over to BE and haven't had a problem since. Speeds are consistent regardless of time of day.

I left BT this morning after asking if they had completed *** jobs they were supposed to do last week, sadlytheir response was I cant see what work has or will be carried out as its not showing on the order management screen. OH well mac code it was & ADSL24 it is from the 21st that is :D

well this is great - for the past 2 weeks ive been running at 4.5 meg then on Monday it droppped to 750kbps. And then yesterday it dies all together. This however is coupled with a total lack of telophony at home - think its the wind and rain etc.

I had a convo with my dad and he is roper into communications - works for a huge company called Converse - he told me that the Newbury Exchange was over capacity 10 years ago so we are almost guaranteed to be facing speed issues because of that.

thoughts? Oh and also, my mate has gone and ordered Virgin broadband for our place at uni!!!!!! uh OH!!!!!!!!

I was in the same boat but my DL was constantly crap average at 3kb/s, change over to Be There and im getting 1.3mb/s a slight change. And to top it off I had to make 2 phonecalls to BT to get my account with them canceld, the department BeThere contacted to initiate the changeover forgot to tell the accounts department that I had change my service provider.

well that was an eventful weekend. My phone lines were completely down from last monday through to Saturday just gone. I had a BT engineer turn up. And my word, he was excellent - not only did he fix the phone lines but my broadband too!!!

Turns out that when we had new line boxes installed 6 months ago, the chap that installed them, installed the wiring incorrectly!! Saturdays BT man swapped the wires round and hey presto 8MEG download on WIRELESS constant speeds!

So, touche BT touche. (bet it dont last)

i see a few of you have mentioned a swap to BE, by the way things have gone with my migration to BE, it seems aslong as your changeover goes smoothly your ok, currently i have had be for 2 weeks in that time i have had no connection or phone line thanks to the be hardware in the exchange being faulty. there tech support and customer service is based in bulgaria, they dont seem to listen to you on the phone or give you information as to what is actually wrong, i actually found BT to be a lot more helpful in telling me where the problem lies
