Hi guys :)

Fairly often (normally when downloading/uploading) my broadband connection will 'freeze' - it sort of disconnects itself, but the computer (and modem) still seem to think im connected.
All lights on the modem stay lit and the only way to get back online is to turn off the computer and unplug the modem.

This is with a BT Voyager 100 modem, and Windows XP.

Anyone had/heard of anything similar happen? Reallly starting to bug me now!

sounds like your maxing out your connections. I take it this is P2P downloading and uploading?

Other options are overheating, though as your modem doesn't have a CPU as such you might find in a router then that's not so likely.

Try limiting the max connections down untill you hit silly numbers like 25. if no luck by then you don't have a connections issue it's more a hardware issue.

I used to have a BT Voyager 100 modem until I upgraded to a router recently.
I used to have similar problems until I updated my modem drivers although as I was with AOL (still am now but hopefully for not much longer), I downloaded them from an AOL webpage but I would think that BT will still offer them as they manufacture the actual modem although I have noticed recently that routers seem to be becoming more popular than USB modems!

Because they do the job way better. Installed one for a mate, his pings to burstfire from Demon now are better than those of a particularly Bragging IRC aquaintance who is on burstfire connection.
Drop was about 5ms average.

not to mention scalability, wireless access, Secure NAT, SPI Firewall.
