Got a bt homehub 3 and it ether needs reseting every week or is just plain and simple tempermental.
Looking to replace this with one that would work better lol

Any ideas what is good and what to avoid???

avoid tenda, Edimax, cheap brands like that. work for standard home users but work when they want to - from the amount that i have set up - also wirelss is poor on them.

Draytek, Netgear for me

Got a Draytek vigor 2710n FS in the MM if your'e interested. Has been an excellent and very stable router for me over the last 3 years, but have now got Infinity so am having to use a BT Home Hub 5 (which is neither excellent nor stable )
:)

HH5 was fine for 10 days- got 37 Mbps down and 9 up, ie the top end of the estimated speed. Then it did an automatic reboot, reset my IP profile and I've been getting 30 down and 5 up ever since with frequent drop outs. Reading various forums (where of course you only hear about the people with problems) suggests that the best option is to use an unlocked Open Reach modem (eg HG612 which is fairly easy to unlock or an ECI which isn't) disable the BT Agent, and a 3rd party router. My HH5 has been fine. Done a reboot or two a couple days after I got it to grab a firmware update, but since then, it's been fine.

Currently sitting at 34hours up time, but I unplugged by accident. Before that it was happily sitting with 8 days up time. Doesn't seem to have the reboot bug for me. Can't say I've got any complaints with mine at all really.

Cool, will read around. Apparently i'm able to get 80DL and 20UL but i've never gotten the BT speeds i've been said I would. Will read that thread and have a look around. Though I know close to nothing about networking

I think I was one of the first connected in the cabinet, so my issues may be due to crosstalk with all the other folks now connected,,,,,

HH5 has been fine for me.

Been hearing complaints about it reboot and dropping connection but mines been behaving itself.

Was dropping a fair bit in the first few days due to DLM but once stable speed was established its been stable. Currently on 11 days uptime. Would have been 25 days if my wife hadn't of accidentally cut the power when she plugged the hoover in.

For a free router its quite good.

I'd give it a go before you start spending money.
