Im not sure if this is the correct forum, but here goes.

Im moving in with a few friends to a brand new apartment, we are renting and there has never been a landline connection at this address as it is a new place.

There are, however, telephone sockets in two of the room.

BT are charging us £125 to have a new connection put in as there hasnt been one before, is it possible to get a new connection with another provider but not at such a steep price?

Any help at all would be great!

I am confused as to why there are phone sockets already in the flat? What are they connected to?

Nothing developers install sockets but there is no connection to the exchange hence BT guy comes and and the charge.

hmm as for the sockets in the flat it does sound like there use to be A BT line in there and its not registered on there database, if i was you i would ask them to do a check on the line in the flat, befor they hit you with a new line

also

bulldog do it for 60 quid for a new line and its installed via BT :)

if they still do the offer

just got this from there site if it helps

Not in the case of new houses/ones that have been refurbed. They put the boxes in and do nothing else. A bt guy then has to connect it to the DP etc. And i dont think bullbog are excepting new res customers are they?
