Hello :)
Is it possible to check somewhere the exact location of the cabinet you are connected to?
I know the exchange and cabinet number but location of that cab is a mystery (well for now) Or the best bet is to walk round the area and look for a number on the cabinet itself
I got the stats ...is it possible based on them to check how far the signal will have to travel to get in to the fiber.
Was wondering (as speeds are not great - much better then old DSL tho) how far to the C and how big impact the distance makes.

Telephone Number 01234567 on Exchange xxx is served by Cabinet 5

Take a walk around would be my advice.
This is purely out of curiosity though right? You're not going to try and tow it closer to your house?

that might take some explaining to the Open Reach guy! I mean explaining why you've dragged the cabinet down the road for better results lol.

Hehe
Sure I would if that's possible :)
Saw few of them around but did not know the number and now I am curious to which one I am actually connected..

And when the guy comes I would say - I want to have faster connection so leave it 20m from my place :D (and have a snickers hehe)

If it helps you try pin point your own, I was predicted lower speeds than that (and achieve 55Mb) and my cab is about 400m up the road from me on a main road.

We've had a 2nd FTTC cab fitted only 4 months of having Fibre on our estate due to capacity issues!

Achieve full speeds all day long with Plusnet, can't fault them! Apart from the call centre queue times but I've only had to ring them twice.. :)

EDIT - Just remembered my local PCP cabinet has the number painted on it, have a look around your area I'm sure you can find it.

As said above, talk a walk round streets near you. Say within 500m's of your home (as the crow flys) I did this the other week for mine, expecting my install on the 30th. Fans are on in the cabinet. But the wholesale checker now says not available until 16th July. . .

Wasn't there a BT email address mentioned before where they told you your cab number? Assuming there are several nearby, so isn't obvious. My brother used it and found his cab would have been one further away than we thought.

the bt wholesale checker says cabinet number. But doesn't help find it. Google earth maybe. Unless you're on a new estate. Look for the older shape cabinet if you use google earth.

I was using google but the pictures were taken some time ago as none of the cabinet I saw with shiny sticker-Infinity available here- are even showing there :)
And yes the cabinet number could be easily obtained through BTOR site :)
But not exact location given like darknite mentiones

Edit:
Found it. ....not the one I was expecting but little bit closer then the other one tho ....Not sure but I think they will have to switch me to the fiber cabinet next to the No.5 one. 0.4miles away according to Google. Hope the signal will be nice :)
