I have just purchased the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 router and need to know if this will work with the BT Home Hub 4.0 or if I should buy a new modem.

I also have a Netgear N600 (DGND3700) that is not being used. Is that better/useable?

Only just switched from Sky to BT. Any guidance on config setup would be much appreciated!

If you just want the R7000 to be a wireless access point then setup will be easy. If however you want the R7000 to actually function as your router and your HH4 to act as a pure modem, I'm not 100% sure - I'm doubtful that a ISP-provided box on standard firmware would allow that. I can't comment for sure as I've never owned an ISP box, let alone an HH4!

You've already got the Home Hub so you might as well just keep using that, you already know it works fairly well. The only thing is the R7000...if it is just being used as a wireless access point I'd be tempted to get a refund and go for something far cheaper (from the likes of TP-Link), unless you absolutely need some special feature that can be offered by the Netgear.

To be honest I bought it for the improved wifi but seems a big waste just to use it as a WAP!

I suffer from wifi dropout despite using WAPs and extenders.

Could you use a Draytek Vigor 120 and then connect the R7000 to that? I know its added expense though. Or send back the Netgear and get an Asus DSL-N55U.

Unfortunately had the Netgear a while now.

I'm using ADSL so just wondered if I can use any old router as the modem and turn off dhcp etc and forward everything through.
