BT Home Hub 5 and Synology

Got a weird one here. Haven't found the solution on my own just yet, so hitting here to see if anyone has an idea on what to do to solve the issue or whether I'm stuck with the situation I'm in.

So, the home network is roughly as follows:

Home Hub 5
| |--> Synology DS215J
|---> Switch ---> Connected devices

The issue is whenever the Home Hub 5 resets every 2-3 weeks and reconnects to the Internet, the Synology is not immediately accessible to the rest of the network. It appears to be reachable after a certain amount of time, but I am unsure whether it's just the expiry of the lease it's given and so the Home Hub renews it on the network to make it accessible again. Optionally as it's right next to me I can just pull the ethernet out from the Home Hub 5 and reconnect it again, that solves the issue 100% of the time.

Anyone have an idea on what setting I need to modify to get this sorted without resorting to needing to be there physically to disconnect and reconnect it?

Try setting the IP address into your synology manually. Removes the need for the lease to renew then. Make sure the IP is outside of the DHCP range though.

Thanks Steveocee, I'll give the settings related to the IP a whirl and see how it goes. Hopefully will be sorted in one go. If I need more help I'll come back and ask again.

Reset is probably the wrong word. It's not a hardware or software reset of the Home Hub 5 itself. It's the standard 3-4 week dc/reconnect commands issued by BT to the Home Hub 5 along the line (used to be much worse, BT before had this issued every 2 weeks or, more frequently, something like every 10 days). When they do this, the Synology is unavailable for some reason. At this point either I wait a certain amount of time (usually at least an hour, most of the time much more though), or I can go unplug and reconnect the cat6 cable from the Synology to Home Hub 5 to regain the connection back again.

Just to update the thread, that Steveocee's suggestion worked a charm. And I've found that you can also log into the HH5 and tell it to apply the same IP every time to the Synology (Static IP) then it will also reconnect straight after a Internet/Broadband re-sync that's hard written into the HH5.

Thanks all.
