i have just changed my adsl modem as the ethernet stopped working for a new home hub, now i can connect by wireless but not with wired.

i get the network symbol in bottom right corner with a notice saying limited or no connectivity, i have tried different cables, have repaired connection etc,
i am connected to an unknown network but cannot browse t'web.
does anyone have any experience with this problem, would be much appreciated cos i am pulling my hair out now.

vista business by the way
thnx

If you are running vista you need to catagorise the network before it'll let you get web access through it. The limited or no connectivity is a DHCP issue, this could be related to the network being un catagorised or could just be vista being crap. My brother got ultimate and it wouldn't accept DHCP out of the box.

how do i change that then.
i can only seem to select private or public,
i cant change the network name
probably me being thick again

easiest way is if you set your IP manually, that will get you working until you can work out why its not accepting DHCP
