Anyone used a bt home hub to connect to a different provider?, my mum has talktalk but its a wired connection anyone know if I could swap out the modem from talktalk and use the home hub one instead and make it wireless. A skinflint question as I have been offered a home hub by a mate who has two and I can have it for nothing, just wanted to know if you can use them for other providers or are they locked to bt service only.

TIA

I wasn't aware that it's locked. If it's not it'll be easy to switch over.

TalkTalk are an awful ISP though. Encourage her to switch to a better one :) (many will give you a free wireless switch too).

If you were to switch to Be/o2 and use quidco +the friends/family offers on here you could save money each month and get cashback for moving. It's a win-win and all.

She just switched to talktrash from AnightmareOnLine, never listens to a word I say. I did hear that they are locked to bt settings for some reason or another and you need a custom firmware to set them up with other providers.

She hates me though because I have cable where I live lol.

Cable can be good under certain conditions, yeah :)

Sounds like a nightmare /re not listening to what you say. I'd just say "fine, do as you like..but then don't expect free tech support from me" :)
