Hi guys, I've been having problems with my router a bt home hub recently, its the new wave shaped model version 2.0a.

It wont let me play killing floor, I cant play fifa 11 online, my internet is frequently slow which I solve by restarting the router.

My ISP as you might have guessed is BT, I would also like wireless (for use with a Wii). So I would like a replacement bt wireless router.

I have no idea apart from that what I want, I dont know what this B, G, N means or what I have at the moment. I do know I have 8mb adsl. I would like to spend in the region of £40 which I think is realistic.

Thanks for any help guys.

try and get a version 3 is an idea. I'm guessing that a lot of your problems are actually BT the isp rather than the homehub though...

I used to have a netgear dg834g which I no longer have, dont ask why, but I never had a single problem with it.

So yes I think its the homehub thats the problem. Im just after something thats today's equivalent to the dg834g that will just sit there, working, without needing constant prodding.

If the dg834g is still considered good I will simply get another one, but this B, G N, C stuff I dont know what it means and I dont know what I have now with the homehub and what I should be using.

You have wireless N with the HH 2.0. Restarting the router could be a router problem, but could just as well be a wiring problem or an ISP problem. You would be better off giving us your router stats, to do this you enter
http://192.168.1.254 into your browser, and then going into advanced settings (entering your password if you have changed it, if not the serial number) then boradband, then ADSL. Copy and paste it here...

Ok...

lots of fec errors, which isn't that much of a problem but error time in secs is high. this is not going to help your broadband speed, and quite often is a result of a noisy line. If so, changing routers isn't going to help you. I'd try changing your filter(s) and perhaps plugging the router directly into the test socket if possible.
