BT Home Hub v3 as WAP?

I've recently upgraded my router from a BT Home Hub v3 to a Billion 7800N - which I'm very happy with. It's not dropped the connection once since I bought it over a month ago.

I have a cat5 cable running from the router in the front room, through the house up to the back bedroom used for a desktop pc. I'd like to add a wireless access point here to extend our wireless network in the back of the house and maybe into the garden (patio at least).

So my question: can I setup my BT Home Hub v3 as a wireless access point? Has anyone done it? I ask because I've read some reports that this was no longer possible after the BT v1 routers without a bit of hacking...

If it's not possible, would anyone be able to recommend another router that would do the job?

Many thanks for any help or suggestions.

Yes, I'm using my HH3 as a wireless AP myself, it's not doing any routing at all. It was as simple as just enabling advanced options and turning the DHCP server off. Give it an IP address within your normal network subnet so you can manage it and that's about it. Then just plug one of the standard network interfaces into your existing network and ignore the red WAN interface.

Ah, that's good to hear! Thanks Phemo.

One more question, can I set the HH3 to use the same SSID for the wireless network as the Billion?

Why would you want to do that? I'd be inclined to give them different SSID's and run them on different channels and let the devices choose the best to connect to...
