I've just a little more reading around on the BT website, and it would appear they
have opted for a more cack-handed approach to installing the BT Home Hub. It seems you should get two packages upon ordering the BT Home Hub. One includes the hub itself, along with a plethora of cables, microfilters and all that gubbins. The other should include a quick-start guide (
also available online), your login details (I assume) and most importantly, a "BT Total Broadband" CD-ROM.
In the setup guide it tells you to connect the Home Hub up then leave it for about an hour before inserting the CD-ROM into your computer. I have no idea what it's supposed to be doing in that time (except for ensuring the line doesn't drop out), and likewise I have no idea what the CD-ROM does. I'd assume it doesn't install "drivers" (you should not need drivers to use a standard ADSL router — once it is configured you should be able to add computers by just plugging them in, or connecting wirelessly), but rather it includes an application which guides you through the process of configuring the router (which, with any other router, could be achieved through a web-based control panel) and possibly adding a support application to your computer and re-branding your copy of Internet Explorer.
As far as I can see it's not possible to download a copy of the contents of the CD in question, so I'm guessing your only option is to ring up BT and ask them to send you a copy. Otherwise you could try asking around if anyone you know has a BT Home Hub and an installation CD they could lend you.
