I have one of these sitting there im thinking about trying it but i dont have the drivers or install could some1 link me or be able to send me them via msn?

I'm not an expert when it comes to the BT Home Hub — I've never used one, and from the reviews I've heard I'm glad for it — but I just did a quick Google to fill myself in on the matter.

As far as I can see the BT Home Hub is just a standard ADSL router with a couple of USB ports, two ethernet ports, a POTS connection and a phone lumped on the side. Unless BT have decided to go for an incredibly complicated setup process, you should just have to connect it to your computer (via ethernet, or USB if you must) then tap an IP address into your web browser and configure it using a web-based control panel (entering in all your ADSL login information, wireless security settings etc. there). I'm assuming this much, but this is how every other ADSL router I've come across works — and if you've received this straight from BT with no drivers it would make sense.

The BT site doesn't appear to mention drivers, but it has a link to download the latest firmware for the router.

P.S. Your signature is too big. Have a look at the FAQ.

I've just a little more reading around on the BT website, and it would appear they have opted for a more cack-handed approach to installing the BT Home Hub. It seems you should get two packages upon ordering the BT Home Hub. One includes the hub itself, along with a plethora of cables, microfilters and all that gubbins. The other should include a quick-start guide (also available online), your login details (I assume) and most importantly, a "BT Total Broadband" CD-ROM.

In the setup guide it tells you to connect the Home Hub up then leave it for about an hour before inserting the CD-ROM into your computer. I have no idea what it's supposed to be doing in that time (except for ensuring the line doesn't drop out), and likewise I have no idea what the CD-ROM does. I'd assume it doesn't install "drivers" (you should not need drivers to use a standard ADSL router — once it is configured you should be able to add computers by just plugging them in, or connecting wirelessly), but rather it includes an application which guides you through the process of configuring the router (which, with any other router, could be achieved through a web-based control panel) and possibly adding a support application to your computer and re-branding your copy of Internet Explorer.

As far as I can see it's not possible to download a copy of the contents of the CD in question, so I'm guessing your only option is to ring up BT and ask them to send you a copy. Otherwise you could try asking around if anyone you know has a BT Home Hub and an installation CD they could lend you.

av. :)

If you are connecting via ethernet to the BT HomeHub, then don't bother with the CD, there are no drivers needed, it just installs mountains of bloat.

Connect everything up and run the Network Setup Wizard in XP, and then, if you need to fiddle with hub settings, go to bthomehub.home in your browser.

Edit: Oh, and your sig looks a little big :)

My broadband connection
Your broadband line is connected.
Broadband connection details:
Downstream 992 Kbps
Upstream 448 Kbps
Connection time 0 days, 0:04:26
Data transmitted 519.00 KB
Data received 1.92 MB
Broadband network IP address 86.140.186.134
Broadband user name [email protected]

That is so bad i get 2.5mb on my linksys router:/ any ideas

Seems a no brainer - switch back to the Linksys (or find another modem).

I'd assume the test account is limited to 1024/256kbps.

The IP's an ordinary BT one (as long as the realm's alright, the rest of the username isn't important on Central Plus). Your sync rate doesn't vary with login.

user name is correct mate,

same on mine, but i use a netgear router now, home hub is a pile of junk.

Cant even use it as a door wedge, dont weigh enough :(
