BT HomeHub question

My mum has a holiday cottage that she rents out and it has a BT HomeHub in it, I think it was recently damaged by lightning as it no longer powers on.

Can I take my spare homehub and use it at her cottage? I use a 3rd party router.

-Do they tie a username to the homehub? Or will it work with any BT internet connection?

Unless they've changed it so the usernames are unique, it should work. I've used a couple in different places previously.
