Thinking of moving my PC into a different area in the house which means I may have to either get a longer Ethernet cable or consider the Homeplug option.

What I would like ask is what are peoples opinions on Homeplugs, would I lose performance on my Broadband or are they pretty good. It would be a much tidier option for me rather than having a cable trailing along the floor.

I got some a couple of weeks ago, and am more than impressed. The T-link ones sold on OcUK are great.

Lower ping and improved up/down vs wireless

I've been considering these, our router is upstairs but would like it downstairs as this is where we use more wireless tech, however, my office is upstairs.

From what I've read they don't work if they are on separate rings so it would be useless for me as upstairs sockets are separate than the downstairs ones :(

I've got 5 netgear Homeplugs AV's (e.g. the 500Mb/s version) sitting across two floors (2 different rings) & they work fine across the rings.

No where near as good as Ethernet cabling, but for printer & sky box connectivity etc... (seem to top out at 45-50ish Mb/s)... they're fine for the task (obviously dependant on the state of wiring in the house)

To sum up:

Ethernet Cable > Homeplugs > Wifi
