For once im not asking a networking question.

Anyway back at home were with Virgin (ADSL 8MB). Recently it hasnt been all that, quite slow speeds in the evening which greatly increase after midnight - there are good and bad days. Trying to get my mum to leave them but she doesnt want to as she loves Virgin/Branson and she cant be without the internet (because of work). That still the case? Last i heard, isnt there a 5 day period between leaving one company and joining another?

She is thinking of going with BT Homehub, can anyone enlightenment me on how good they are?

Unless you're talking about a cease and reprovide, there's never been five days downtime changing ADSL ISPs - the downtime should be a matter of hours, if that.
There's a gap between giving your ISP your MAC key and the migration happening (which could be in the region of a week), but you should still be connected to the old ISP.

The HH's utter garbage, and there are better ADSL ISPs than BT Retail as well.

Oh right, lol been under the impression there was a few days of downtime when swapping ISPs. Cheers :)

Might have to stick with Virgin as my mum will prob want BB and some sort of phone package, only a few arent there (BT, TalkTalk)?

There are shedloads of ADSL ISPs (and some of them are decent), and you can do what you like with the voice service - they aren't tied together by any means.

At the end of the day, with the way wholesale line rental and BT Wholesale ADSL works, there isn't really a difference in price between separate and combined packages - if the package is cheaper, it's because they're cutting from somewhere.
