BT sent my new broadband hub kit to the wrong addressee and they are now sending out a replacement, in the mean time they have told me my connection is now active at my new addressee, i hooked up my old 3.0 hub and i just get a solid orange light, The new hub they are sending is the new 5.0 one, can anybody confirm weather my old 3.0 hub should still work or not?

You have forgotten to say what connection you are on. If it's FTTC (BT Infinity) and you haven't been provided an Openreach white modem then the Home Hub 3 is no use to you.

sorry yeah its bt infinity same as my old connection i have the other white box as well hooked up. They are saying the connection is live but i just get an orange light in the middle and the other 2 are blue.

If your old connection was also Infinity then it should work fine, as long as you've set it up properly.

Are the lights on the modem showing the VDSL is active?

If you have the modem too then it should work i think.

What are the lights on the modem showing? are they showing a DSL connection?

Edit - Caged beat me to it :P

Other thing new address? Guessing this address did not have fibre before? Could it be your running one of the old kind of filters on the line and its not compatible with VDSL and you need to use the one thats most likely in the HH5 box.

The white box has a DSL light but not vdsl, the dsl light is green though, and as for the filter, all i know its its an old one because its gone yellow lol.

I would try connecting your line to the ADSL part of your router to see if you get a dsl connection (the light). It could be that they haven't swapped you over at the cabinet or the filter just is not good enough due to its age.
