Morning all

Hoping someone here maybe able to help me out and or give me some advice .

2 weeks ago i got BT infinity 2 and home hub 5 Ethernet to my PC the speeds are excellent and really happy with it but the wireless side of things i seem to be having a issue.

I have a iphone 5C ( unlimited data) my wife has the 5 , My seems to be struggling a lot to jump on wifi and if she is on it then says out of data which makes me think even though the wifi signal bar is on her phone and also ipad 2 it's not working , Yet it seems to be working on my phone?

I've reset her networks in her phone and it's make no difference what so ever.

So i went through some setting on the hub and switched off the 5GHz Wireless as some people said it clashes for the iphone to jump on?

On the 2.4 GHz Wireless i have switched off auto smart channel and used 11 and then 1 not much difference to be honest See photo

Any ideas suggestions please as I'm getting frustrated by al of this !

Than you
Regards.

You can use inSSIDer to see all the wireless networks in your area, and what channel they are broadcasting on. This will give you some idea of conflicts.

5GHz will be the best for all devices that are compatible with it as it is a rarer frequency and is supposedly more powerful (better radius, stronger signals, better penetration of walls etc).

The 4S onwards supported 5GHz (from my own memory, maybe earlier devices). This Wifi won't drop as often as 2.4GHz if you have issues with that frequency.

Thanks for your reply

Yeah i thought 5GHz would be best but then read somewhere maybe on BT forum that a lot of iphone 5 users were having issues with it and it was conflicting ?

Another thing i forgot to post is that when we scan wifi on her phone it doesn't always see our hub yet mine does?

Thanks.

You were probably jumping between the 2.4 and 5 networks all the time - try renaming the 5Ghz and the 2.4Ghz networks with different names (although you can use the same key) and only connect to the 5Ghz network (remember to remove the old SSID from your device memory / history). That solved a lot of the problems I was having with my HH5.

Yeah i have done this already as i thought it was jumping between networks thing is we seem to be struggling to pick up the 5Ghz network in certain parts of the house so use the 2.4Ghz mostly .

Thanks.
