BT Infinity connectivity problem

So I just got BT Infinity today and my dads Mac upstairs is getting about 2-3 megabytes, but when his macbook air is on the same desk it is getting 30-35 megabytes. All I'm asking is why?

Problem solved. iMac has wireless-G whereas macbook air has wirless-n.

I don't mean to be pedantic but its megabits, the difference between the two is 8 fold
