Just ordered bt infinity fttp they are sending me a home hub but do I need this router?

I seem to have been given a router an ont one with 4 lan points. So can I not just use a wireless actress point for wireless coverage?

A bit of a guess but...

The ONT should be passing the WAN IP through on one the Ethernet ports.

There's a good chance that the other Ethernet ports won't be active (in the same way that the BT VDSL modems have two Ethernet ports but only one is active).

You'll almost certainly need a router connected as well.

The ONT could probably work as a router given the correct firmware and configuration but it's unlikely to be setup in that way.

Yes you need the HomeHub, hence why they're sending you one. You can use your own router if you want but a regular basic AP won't work.
