http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/44291/~/unlimited-anytime-callsThinking of going to bt, does their anytime calls package include UK mobiles?
So I finally exchanged on my house yesterday (new build).
I've been monitoring their BB deals as Openreach have done the wiring into the house and entering the postcode it's confirmed I can received fibre from BT and about 6 other providers into the house.
Now when I've previously entered the postcode, it pings up saying "congrats you can get ultrafast broadband blah blah blah" and then gave me the 145/300mb options to choose from.
However, when I went to do the check last night all excited that I could finally get it ordered, it pinged up saying "Sorry, we can’t find results for your address at the moment. We’re updating our systems and we hope this will be fixed soon."
Is there any reason why BT would stop showing choices to me now when there was no issue a week/10 days ago...?
If those are phone outlets, then no. The grey cable hanging out of the ONT is the ethernet into your router.
The house builder has full control of the ONT placement as well as the decision of how much network cabling to install into your house, looks like they couldn't be bothered to think in this case.
Where is the ONT in relation to where you want to have your router?
If it’s an Ethernet port it must have another end somewhere.
As mentioned, the ONT is under the stairs.
You seem to be saying the both the ONT and the other end of that Ethernet connection are both under the stairs. If so what's the problem?Well this is it. But the only ports I know of are in the cupboard under the stairs.
Probably fine but it's worth looking at ways of running a cable between the ONT and somewhere else before you get involved in decorating the new place.
When I said where in relation I meant in terms of layout - is it just through a wall for example? Getting a cable through the wall and then neatly tacked along the skirting will not look out of place.

I'm not sure that the port in the living room is an ethernet connection - this is what I'm saying. But the first pic I uploaded shows a grey cable which is an ethernet cable so something has to be put into that.
Yeah the superhub will go next to the ONT. I was fortunate as we got FTTP after we moved in so I was able to have the ONT installed next two ethernet ports in the living room. You'll either have to reply on wifi, powerline or run ethernet sadly. And I used powerline temporarily and it was a disaster, they would drop out regularly and need resetting. I'd say don't bother going powerline, if you can go ethernet, even though its a hassle.
Edit : Should add the powerline drop outs were on a new build as well.

Cheers for this. Disappointing.
I find it staggering that they didn't think of people needing ethernet ports where the TV is situated.
Should be pretty seamless. For DSL is there a BT socket already there? If so it should be a remote activation in 3-4 working days. For Fibre it's more like two weeks for activation.Has anyone moved their BT service to a new property when moving? How easy was this and how quick was it working at the new property?

So just to counter that, I used powerline adaptors at my last new build rental and they where absolutely fine, no dropouts at all, I only had a 60 meg connection at that place. It did add ~ 8 ms latency though.
I get BT ultrafast 2 connected tomorrow so happy to do a quick test and let you know how they cope if that helps at all.
