BT Infinity & FTTx Discussion

Isn't the latency increase just going to be the DLM profile reset that happens when you change provider? Leave the modem synced up and it will most likely come back down.

I think so - probably interleaved by default and will take time to swap back to fastpath

I hope so because the line is currently on a 40/10mbit profile and I signed up for 80/20. The Vodafone broadband app does say that it'll take about 10 days to sort itself out.

That bit's a lie, if you've been provisioned on 40/10 then that's a fault that Vodafone need to fix, the 10 day thing isn't grounded in any truth and is just used to fob people off

It looks like you guys were correct. My sync speed is up from 39.3Mbit to 46.8Mbit today, and my pings are back to what they were on TalkTalk:

Only had my 300mb service installed for a few months and didn't realise they've updated their packages.

Got them to up me to 500mb which seems to have replaced my package for the same price :D

Thanks.

I honestly don't need it. If I have to contact them for any reason then I'll mention it. I'm actually going to be moving house in a few months so they are going to have to swap me to the older service anyway :(

How on earth are you getting deals so cheap? Why am I paying 52pm for their basic fibre 1 with line rental.

Iv asked this many times now and get blanked. Yet everyone here seems to be on some kind of jackpot deal getting crazy speeds for pennies.

When I signed up last year for their 300Mb service, they offered it to me for £45.99 a month instead of the standard price of £59.99 without me even asking for a discount.

When they made Gigabit available, I pretty much moved on to that straight away. They offered it to me for £55 a month, which I took.

Then I saw some people talking about how they had it cheaper, so I called them and asked for my upgrade to be cancelled because I saw other people getting better offers. It was taking them over 2 weeks to revert my upgrade because of the pandemic. Someone called me to check I still wanted to downgrade, and I told them I'd stick with it if they could give it to me for £50 a month, and they offered me a £120 credit to being my effective price down from £55 a month to £50 a month (£120 over 24 months works out at £5 a month.)

Anyone try and help me finding more information?

Currently at the parents house on an 80Mbps FTTC. Dad has informed me that and engineer came and asked him to move his car so he could access the BT Man hole (all ducting, no poles) that is directly outside the house and talked to him regarding fibre (possibly FTTP?) Talked about 300+ Mbps from what I could gather.

He said there was already rope in the duct to pull wiring though, says it will take 2 weeks for him to survey and plan then another couple for it to become active?

Am I in the hopes of possibly getting FTTP? Dad isn't that clued up but believes it was OpenReach van/engineer.

Where could I possibly find more information?

Thanks.

Just stick the post code or phone number into https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

it'll tell you if you can get fibre

I checked my address again this morning on BT, looks like they have now open up orders for full fiber packages 900mb.

Same here. It wasn't the case yesterday morning when I checked.

The installation dates they're offering are a surprise, I thought it would be a few months off but no:

There's also a note about how the engineer will work in my house so it isn't a case that they'll do the external work and then return in the future to do the indoor work:

Which package have you gone for? I want to try see If I can get them to give me some sort of deal, as I'm leaving Sky for this.
