So after many years with adsl24 I found out Fibre was available in my area, cause I'm so far from my exchange I was on 1mb for a long time so naturally I was excited about this. To stay with adsl24 I would've needed to pay 40 something quid for installation then another 50 or so for a modem whilst BT provide all this for free so I decided to have BT Infinity installed. Currently getting 37mb down and 7mb up, I do have some concerns though I'd like some of you to address if possible:
1: Torrents, this is my main problem at the min. I've known for a while BT have been well known to throttle people using torrents, I did not quite expect it to be this bad though and it's to the point where I actually think I may have a setting wrong somewhere. During on peak hours I download at 15 kbs and off peak it ranges between 550 kbs and 800 kbs, any one else on BT Infinity getting better results or anyone have any suggestions at all? By the way downloads off websites are absolutely fine, I normally pull down at around 3 or 4mb a sec.
2: Streaming, the loading bar on the likes of youtube or various other players on streaming websites with Fibre I was expecting this to shoot right across and be fully ready to stream in mere seconds with Fibre. It starts out like that (for the first 3 seconds) then it slows way down to a more gradual pace with to be honest isn't a whole lot faster than my past 1mb connection. Anyone else experiencing this?
Those are my only concerns right now, downloading and gaming are perfect can't complain with either. If anybody can shed any light on the above topics though that'd be great.
