Hey guys,

At the moment i am with Plusnet, on the unlimited fibre extra package. I feel like a mug with it, Line speed estimates are max 27-35mb, lowest assured is 25mb. I was getting like 29mb for a while, my net dropped randomly one day and it resynced at 25mb, so i got in touch with plusnet and they say because im getting the lowest assured speed they cant do anything about, frustrating since i know my line is capable of more (i have had 32mb before even).

My upload speed is synced at 6mb, plusnet said if i moved to the lower package (speeds up to 52mb) then my upload would drop....

Anyway ive looked at Infinity, and with everything i could be saving around £25, not only that on there lower package they say upload is up to 9.5mb.

So are plusnet mugging me off, is it worth switching to BT? Ive always had a stable connection with plusnet with no lag issues and low ping which is why im a bit concerned with switching as i have no idea how BT will be so just after some peoples experiences here? with both?

sorry for the long text and cheers in advance!

Plusnet don't offer 52Mb broadband.

Their lower package is 38Mb. Until recently this did have the upload limited to 2Mb but I believe they are in the process of returning to a 9Mb upload.

I have 55/10 from Plusnet.

I was originally on 80/20 which I got the full speed, then dropped to 40/2 which ended up being 40/10, then eventually was automatically regrades to 55/10 via a 'we are improving your service' email around 12 months ago.

It doesn't matter which provider you go with, your line is only capable of a certain speed, which you will get with them all. You may gt a small increase moving to BT, but that's only because DLM will be reset as part of the move.

pretty much this.

I moved from Plusnet to BT and got no increase/decrease in speed. Although to be fair mine is almost max speed anyway.

I've been with Plusnet 4 years now, overall quite happy.

Main complaint I use to be on 40/20 package, and was put to 55/10. My upload syncs at 16Mb and miss the extra upload.

Other small complaint at peak times download can drop from around 50Mb to around 40Mb.

My second time with Plusnet and haven't noticed any issues at all. My line appears to be banded at 67Mbit but that's a DLM thing and nothing to do with the ISP.

same hear....can not say enough about plusnet. Get a new deal every year by just phoning when renewal is due and all i say is "what have you got for me" and they come up with a new package with same speeds and same price.

They also helped me out when I was made redundant 6 years ago when they dopped my price by half to help me out. Dont know if anyone else would have done that but that is why I stay loyal to plusnet. I am on 51/9.8 speeds and never drops.
