i was on o2 for 3 years and during that time i used the netgear dgnd 3300v2 router which worked for me.
now iam on bt fibre optic but have to use the bt home hub which my signal isnt great

does anyone know if or how on what i can do to replace the home hub to a uprated router shall we say?

requirements would be the same as before 300mbs connection and mac address control etc etc

many thanks
Daryl

Yes that's the white box that was supplied to you. I have also replaced my HH3 with an Asus RT-AC66U and its working very well.

Draytek do a series of VDSL modem/router all in 1 boxes I believe. You could check those out.

Drayteks are expensive and there's nothing wrong with the modem that BT supply. Most would recommend you keep it :)

The DrayTek 2850n is fantastic and replaces both the modem and the router, alternatively if you're on a budget, keep the BT modem and replace the home hub with a 2710n from DrayTek.

thank you for the feedback, the asus router looks promising but one question tho, for the sake of a couple of quid would the Asus RT-N66U be worth it?
would be looking to purchase today as i would really need it as this home hub is awful
many thanks

home hub is poor for wifi.... downloading @ 180KB/S isnt my idea of fibre optic boradband
i was getting my full 11mb from my old router with o2

but when connected via lan i would hit 5.5 mbs, also i only connect to at 130 mbps where as before i was at 300 constant

reason i need wifi i cant has a RJ45 cable lying on the floor with a child about.

How come people are chaging the homehub? i have the HH3 and its brilliant, signal is always great and i get no issues with online gaming.

Plus there is the fact there are 2/3 ports permanently open so BT can pull stats off the hub, and a public BT Wifi and BT FON network. I value security!

recieved my router and got it within 24 hours
plugged it in done the initial setup and presto full speed no issues and downloading at 6.88 mbs now solid ;)

I am on BT Infinity also and i'm considering about disabling the HomeHub3 wifi and using the Asus RT56N. The Wifi on the HomeHub3 is/was the same as the wifi on my Netgear DGN2000 I had for many yrs on O2, (144mbps) but now we all demand more! I have an 8 port gigabit-switch going into my HomeHub3 and also PowerLine 200 as well, so all i want is better wifi. It seems the Asus RT56N is ideal, another win for Asus! Ordering mine tomorrow
