Hi all,

I have got BT Infinity 2 due to be installed upstairs later in the month. We already have Sky Fibre downstairs (entry level package - 38Mbps/7Mbps), however when moved upstairs to a non-Master socket, the data rates dropped horrifically to 18Mbps/0.15Mbps.

BT are going to install a new line to upstairs for my wired network, keeping the Sky for wireless only. My question however, is concerning the signal/noise degradation - if I have the Master Socket at the back of the house, would the extra distance of cabling to the back of the house impact on the signal significantly/at all?

My alternative option is to install the Master Socket at the front bedroom and have the wired network go up into the loft and route around the upstairs that way.

Either way, Cat6 sockets have been installed in every upstairs room, so there is no major issue with front or back, except that the back is an office, so more suited to having a router present!
