I had a great many issues with BT over my connection, which should come as no surprise. After about 3 months of explaining the situation repeatedly to morons, 2 replacement homehubs, 3 engineer visits and a partial refund into the wrong bank account, I've finally got the connection I should - turns out the little green box between my house and the exchange had my line connected to a block that'd been there since the 60's, and the third engineer just shifted it across to a block that was installed about 2 years ago. now my connection's been running at a full 8Mb for over a months, and I could only be happier if they upgraded the exchange for ADSL2, but since I'm in a sparsely-populated area (apparently, though it's fairly dense for a suburban neighbourhood) they don't even have a due date - no intention to upgrade at all, at least not in the next 18 months. This is central to my query.
During that time, possibly on more than one occasion, I highlighted to faceless call-centre workers struggling to phoenetically pronounce english words from a script the irony of being in an area too 'remote' to make it worth their while upgrading our exchange, yet I was still capped at 40GB on my so-called 'unlimited' plan. I'm not sure what part of my oh-so-persuasive rage finally flipped over their leaf, but they seem to have removed my download cap. Over the last 5 weeks, what with all of the holiday game sales on Steam, D2D & GOG (Freespace 2 makes me happy), I've downloaded about 90GB of data, and still not hitting any road blocks. Previously my speeds were capped once I hit the limit, so has anyone had experience with this? Can they suddenly switch tacts, and charge me for going over the limit? Has anyone else had their limit freed? I'm very nervous about asking them directly, because there's a chance they may cap my again.
