No idea where to ask this. If a Don knows better do feel free to move it.

Can anyone think of a reason why a BT Landline would not accept an international incoming call? The number was called from abroad using an international phone card and just refused to connect. Any other UK number worked perfectly. There are no call barring services set up on the line.

Obviously the answer is ring BT but I dont have a spare 45 minutes to sit on the phone right now :p

Where else could I ask this? Does anyone even use landlines anymore :p

I have never been a fan of BT, especially their internet services but I can only go from personal experiences.

This link relates to international calls on BT's website. Perhaps it may shed some light ?

Alternatively, could it be an issue with the foreign telecom company making the connection ?

I would assume its nothing to do with BT directly.

More likely the fault lies with the calling card or the local phone network.

Sometimes when I dial international from a BT landline it takes a few attempts to get connected.

We had this problem when we moved, the previous bill payer had an international block on the number and for what ever reason even although the number had not been used in a couple of years it carried over to us.

It took BT several weeks to find this as on the front end system it showed no blocks on the number it was on the back end system that was blocking the international calls.
