Yet another thread as I run into another problem :(

Anyone knows who is responsible for the wiring up to and including the master BT socket?

The BT engineer could get the line working up to the common point of my floor, but said it seems the final piece of cable connecting my flat to the common board in the small room were all the wires are is crushed and the copper leaks signals on all pairs!

I know the socket is "BT's property", but the wiring isn't? I thought I would ask here before arguing with BT if anyone has any experience of this sort.

Thanks a lot.

Generally speaking BT are responsible for the cabling from the exchange up to and including the NTE (Network Terminating Equipment) or the master socket

This is perhaps a grey area in that you live in a flat and the incomming wires go to a terminal from whence they are distributed to the individual flats . However, I believe that Bt are responsible for the cabling to your individual master socket.
I would suggest that you state your case in writing to BT.
If BT disagree then you are fully entitled to do this work yourself - which aint exactly rocket science!
