Bt messing us about :(

The last three years my connection has been showing a 4meg connection rating , two weeks ago although the connection rating was the same my speeds had dropped from 350kb/s to just 100/150kb/s. I phoned up friday and was told that a line test would be done and i'd be called back on saturday. I waited and waited , nobody called back.

I phoned up tonight and was told my account had not been upgraded and i was on the old speeds. I was then put through to one department then another. I said could someone reset my ip profile thats all i'm asking!. I was then put through to tech support again , who put the phone down on me.

I phoned up again , i gave my number and told them to reset my ip profile and they said yep we can do that please hold 2mins. They then told me there was no account on this number , i gave them the number again and was told to hold 2mins. Again they said wrong number i said it again and they got the number 1 digit out. One last time they contacted wholesale and said had i got a new number. I said ages ago its been fine ever since , they told me that my old number was still on the account. They also asked me had i moved house recently i said no. They apologised and put the correct phone number on the broadband account they also told me that the cpc number e.t.c would be put on the correct account and all the phone numbers. He also said the speed should be back to the correct speeds in two days.

Now i got my old man moaning , hope they didn't put us on another 12months and hope you didn't change your mums details on the account ( she doesnt live with us but does have bt broadband ). I said no how could i when i gave our address.

Christ almighty its made far harder for the fact its being BT INDIA and having to clearly say my number and made worse the fact that BT can't get the details right when we are on a BT phone line.
 
Go to another ISP if you can? Check www.samknows.com and see what providers you can get in your area.

I had similar issues after a line fault last year, the line speeds were never right afterwards.

After two months of BT India I had had enough so got my mac code, the guy (not Indian) offered me allsorts of offers to keep me with them, but I explained money was not the issue... it was the service... he gave me my code there and then.
 
Apparantly we got put on an 18month contract EVEN though we never requested it nor have we requested to have our service upgraded. It was supposed to end months ago but my old man is going to write up a long list of all the crap thats gone on.
 
Guy was going to do a speed test and also get my ip profile reset and he put the phone down on me while i was waiting , didn't even call me back...

Another person , This guy just said to me we have details on your system that you are having noise on your line , which is NOT what i said , i never even mentioned noise. Over two weeks of conversation to be told they have those details on there system which was never mentioned. I said slow speeds , ip profile needs to be reset. But they phone my mobile telling me doing a speed test on the main line. I told him if the mobile goes dead for whatever reason or atleast don't put the phone down PLEASE call me straight back. Guy says " np i can do that for you , sorry its been so much hastle ".

Guy says speed test is busy , please hold. I hold he comes back says something and the phone conversation gets cut off.

DOESN'T CALL ME BACK!.
 
I had problems with BT and the 18months contract. They signed me up for a new contract without me knowing. I never had a call from them etc to tell me this was happening.

I asked them to either provide me with the Signature or the telephone call that i had agreeing to an extension of my contract.

They called back 6 days later telling me that i was correct, so then asked for my mac code.

They really are useless.
 
I just typed in my OLD phone number , the one before i have now and got my result

Why is my old number working and not the phone number im signed up with bt? , something strange going on here!

Out of curiosity, what are the speed results for your "new" number? Could be some sort of crazy crossed wires problem somewhere down the line...

According to BT broadband this new number does not exist , for some reason the BT broadband account has its own phone number which was my old phone number 5 months ago :rolleyes:. The speed results for my NEW number don't work , again according to bt there is no such phone number. Even though my account is through the new number and i've spoken to people fine through this new number for 5 months. Also if i ring my old number its dead but the router works on it :confused::confused:

Ok i spoke to the different guy and said " Im calling from this number , *which is my old number* " , he told me to do a speedtest which i did so. He then did a test to the OLD number and said yes you are getting much lower speeds than what you should be and will be escalted to get it sorted at the exchange!

1) I avoided sales which the earlier guy told me to do to change the broadband phone number over , I did NOT want to risk going into another contract and figting BT.

2) As far as bt broadband is concerned they are still using my old number and thats the way its going to stay until im out of this contract. BT have messed me about time after time. Bt was informed about the new number 5 months ago , the account details have always been through that number for the last 5months.

Everytime I have had the misfortune to talk to BT, ie they want to renew things they have always stated 18 month contracts to me..... :D

Well it's business sense isn't it, start off big then work your way down... everyone has their own breaking point when they just get bored and say "OK, I'LL TAKE YOUR STUPID OFFER" :P

3776kbit/s ( 1343 kbit/s ip profile ) = 150-180kb/s * LAGGY BROWSING / GAMING *

Two weeks of hell dealing with bt india , reset my ip profile is all i wanted them to do :rolleyes:

TODAY @ 2PM CONNECTION WENT DOWN FOR 2MINS -
3776kbit/s ( 2989 Kbit/s ip profile ) = 360 - 400kb/s

:D:D , I can now sit back and relax atleast until bt mess up again :p
