I don't use our landline much, moved in in October last year so have only just noticed that if I call my mobile from the landline phone, it comes up with a number I don't recognise. I call it back and the landline rings. I go to my emails, retrieve my BT setup email and call the phone number supplied (which is different), and my landline rings... So I've got two phone numbers going to my landline...
I email BT asking what to do and get the response; we need £99 to escalate the problem with engineering. There's no way I'd pay a penny because a) It's not really a problem and b) I'm renting the line off them so any non-negligence fault they should pay for. If I was renting a car and it broke down I wouldn't have to pay to get it fixed. If I was renting a house and the cooker broke, I wouldn't have to pay to get it fixed. So why are BT being a PITA? What should I do? Leave it or take it up with someone higher up than a basic support wallah?
