Hi,
turned on my macbook today and there is a zig zag line across the bluetooth symbol on the menu bar and when i click it it says: Bluetooth: Not available.

This has never happened before, has anyone experienced this?

Michael.

Looking at the official Apple discussion forums it seems like a well documented problem, yet no one seem to be able to find a fix for it.

Doing a quick search just now I've seen quite a few people recommend shutting down, taking the battery out then waiting a few minutes before putting it back in and booting back up. Whether that is a short or long-term solution, I don't know...

thanks for that.
it happened after me not using for macbook for a day, the battery prob was totally drained.
gonna give it a reboot and see what happens, i dont use BT so not affect me that much, but its just the ramdomness of the problem im disappointed with, moved from windows to mac to avoid this. i still love mac better though :p

edit* a reboot fixed it.

If it were a USB Dongle, it would be as simple as unplugging and reinserting (As was the case when this happened with my old Epox Dongle). It being an internal component makes things a little more complicated.

That said, if you don't use BT, you could just disable it in System Prefs :)
