Hi all, I'm looking at getting Broadband in the girlfriends new flat. Im looking at either Tiscali or BT option one. however, im not sure which to go for, I've heard all the bad things about tiscali, but the price is good for the first three months and then still slightly cheaper than BT. however the BT package has a 10gig limit and we both watch quite abit of 4od and iplayer.

I'm stuck/torn

what are peoples thoughts on both the packages and also the 10gig limit, is there a chance that i would use up all 10gig in a month?

sadly both compainies are bad & have terrible support if anythings goes wrong, if say you go with tiscali and sky come along and buy it you may be lucky but dont hold your breath. The price maybe good but again these go up so why not look at o2 access package or sky connect over these at £18 per month, 3 quid more than tiscali. what you need to do is check some other furums and see the issues that these isps have, would link you but not sure if i'm allowed.

Go for the ones with short contracts. you can read reviews on the internet but you'll only see the bad stories not the good, plus most people that write the reviews don't know what they're talking about. A lot of what affects service quality depends on the area you live in. It's best just to try and see. I think O2 have a 3 month contract even on their BT resale packages so you can easily switch if you're not happy.

Like the others have said - pick the best of the bad bunch and hope for the best :(
Both get regularly slated for one thing or another - carppy speeds or equally bad support

Tiscali is worse than BT but only just. go for someone else.
you'll use 10GB before you know it on iPlayer/4od.
also they throttle the ports used by P2P apps so expect it to take AGES to download anything.
better off going with someone like ADSL24 etc
