BT over the phone line speed estimate

Just rang up to arrange to control of the BT line at my new house

move in on friday

I asked about ADSL, there information indicates i should be able to receive speeds of up to 1mb

eek !

what do they base this on, and how accurate is it ?

They base it on the same checker thats on the BT site and that most ISP's use, the BT wholesale line checker.

and how does it arrive at this guess, is it just based on line length or something ?

what im really after knowing, is if i go with Be there ADSL2+, am i going to get more than 10mbit, as if not, i may as well get cable.

Its not that accurate at all. It says I can only get 1.5mb which is fine except I sync at 6mb and have done since changing to ADSL Max lol

BT told me 1Mbps maximum, Bulldog gives me a reliable connection >8Mbps.

This was some time ago however.
