I upgraded in January from a really old 2mb 20gb per month tariff to their Option 3 8mb Unlimited. Now it seems some eejit has still not actually added this to the account and am being charged a pound for every gb i go over. I would use around 60gb per month, what with steam and movies via XBL so as you can imagine im not too happy about it.

I have rang up before and was assured that they had changed the details, so i thought everything was okay until i recieved this new bill.

I would just like to know where i stand, seeing as its like 9 months into the supposed year contract and as yet i still havent actually gotten the tarriff that i am paying for. I will also have to give them a call later on, to get this taken off the bill, but how do i go about making sure this wont happen again.

You'll probably need to put it in writing as well but I wouldn't hold much hope that they'll ever sort it out.

We're having no ends of problems with BT ourselves. We cancelled our business broadband line which we had been using for 5-6 years, possibly even longer. We continued to receive bills despite 3 phonecalls ensuring us that we would recieve a final bill in due course. Eventually the final bill arrived so we thought that was it. Alas no, 2 weeks later we recieved an installation bill for a new broadband line along with 8 months of service charges. When we queried this they were adamant that a new broadband line had been installed in April 2009. Despite our phonecalls and letters we're now getting final reminders threatening legal action. I guess we'll have to go to court over it.

Anyways your best bet would be to phone like you have been. Also write a letter explaining everything and state that you want confirmation when action has been taken. Apart from that you don't really have many options, apart from trying to get out of the contract I guess. Good luck.....

To be honest i dont really have too much of a problem with the service much, its just that ontop of the whatever it is per month they are trying to sting me for an extra £190 odd quid for excess usage. Im sure im not the only one who thinks that 60-80gb per month is too much, but i digress. The thing im really worried about is, that i really only wanted to be with BT for the year and then switch my BB to another provider, and am hoping that whenever the person on the other end of the phone changes the tariff to what it is meant to be, that they dont try to hold me for a year from that date. The £190 odd quid should be easy enough to be taken off the bill, good thing i decided not to do direct debit.
