I have Plusnet FTTC. I use a BT Smarthub 2 router as the Plusnet router is garbage.

I live in a large 4 bed detached house and the wifi could be better in places.
Can I use the black BT discs to extend the wifi range or is it a simple no as my provider is Plusnet? I get that Plusnet is BT technically but still, different brand.

From memory you should be able to use the BT hub with PN, it therefore should work with the black discs as they will only work with the BT hub. They won’t work with the PN hub iirc.

The BT Smarthub 2 does work with Plusnet FTTC. I’m wondering whether you have to have BT as a service provider to use the black discs?

You don’t have to have BT as a service provider, you do have to have a compatible BT Hub to use the smart discs and physically connect them to the Hub to pair them. It’s not the connection provider that’s the issue here, it’s managed by the Hub.
