I am with Namesco for my broadband and up to last night had 3 to 3.5mb connection and download speed.

Last night my router is still shown its connected at over 3Mb but the internet is painfully slow. In fact running the BT speed test as my ISP advised me it says the following

Download speed 18Kb/s

Expected download Speed 30Kb to 250Kb/s

Connection speed 3.1Mb/s

BT Max limit speed 125k/s

The ISP has sent an urgent request to BT to up my limit but what the hell is going on?

I didn't think BT could manually limit/shape wholesale traffic?

If you're going via Namesco which I assume is BT wholesale, it's them who are in control of all their customers and not BT.

Only thing I can find wrong with my router is that I am getting a hell of a lot of FECs. What are they?

Router is a 2wire 2700

Why are you with Namesco? They're so early 90s. :p

Exchange isnt LLU and Namesco give me 110Gb monthly download and a good speed (3 to 3.5Mb) for less money per month than anybody else I could be with. Plus they have been pretty reliable for the last 11 years as well.

Just had an email from my ISP saying BT had done what they needed to to fix my speed. My router has resynced at 5.5Mb now!

The email does say it will stabilise over the next 24 hours so I expect that to drop back down to just over 3Mb again but at least I have my internet back now :D
