Hi all.

Whenever I try to do the BT speedtest at speedtester.bt.com, it just doesn't seem to work. It seems to just timeout and nothing happeneds at all, just a white page.
I have tried for 6 months or so and it never seems to work. It's quite frustrating because I want to see what my IP profile is.
I have tried it on 3 different computers in my house and it doesn't work on any of them.

Do you think it could be my router somehow blocking it? It's a linksys WAG54G.

Any idea's???

hmm i had exactly the same problem, nd btw... its nice to see you play drums.... I have a Pearl EX 2004 in Wine Red/Black Hardware with:

Zildjian K 16" Crash
Zildjian K Custom 10" Dark Splash
Zildjian Oriental 18" China Trash
Zildjian K 20" Ride

I play a green Yamaha Stage Custom with a set of Sabian Pro's (ride, crash, splash, hats) :D

Buuuut anyway. I have the same router and can do the Speedtest with no problems. It does take a good 5-10 minutes though! Are you sure you're not just being impatient? Try turning off any firewalls etc maybe?

Also, could your ISP not tell you your IP Profile?

Stupid question, but you are with BT as an ISP yeah?

And you have the latest version of Java installed and enabled in the browser settings?

Very nice kit! i did a gig on one once....

Getting Back to Pcs..... To Zildjian...Are you sure u have not just been unlucky with timing?... wait until about 1am (offpeak time) and then try it.... Perhaps its just the amount of people on your line

I have a Mapex M Series Pro with Zildjian A customs :D

I can't see the page at all. At the bottom of firefox it says "waiting for bt.speedtester.com...", then firefox shows a page saying:

"The connection was reset

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."

Basically it just times out.
I might try turning the firewall of later and giving it another try, it's really weird though...
I guess I could try phoning BT but I hate their support, they are difficult to understand and last time I phoned they didn't know what a mastersocket was, and that was their technical support!

BT is my ISP and I do have java installed. I have tried it on 3 different computers, with different browsers, different firewalls, etc. and I have tried it throughout the day at different times for the last 6-8 months or so.

I'm pretty sure its something to do with your ISP being BTbroadband - used to work fine for me on previous isps - freedom2surf, plusnet and zen but since changing to BT i've not beeen able to get the page to load either .

Could be the homehub as well though but i can't be bothered to swap it out for another router just to load up one page for 5 minutes.

The paranoid amongst us would probably say its down to BT not wanting their customers to see what speeds they are actually getting :D

probably the homehub then - if the girlfriend didn't want to use the hubphone and free internet evening calls package , i'd probably swap back to my old equipment but i don't think i can use that and have the hub in the system to get the use of the phone/calls package

But I don't have a home hub and still can't use the page.
It is probably BT blocking some of their customers who have been capped/traffic shaped. :D

I just thought I would let you all know. As soon as I migrated from BT about 3 - 4 weeks ago, the speed tester now works fine.
It never worked on BT for over 8 months, but works everytime on my new ISP.

Very weird...
