BT Sports - cast to big screen?

I have recently joined EE and have enabled the smart benefit for BT Sports ultimate.

The app works great on my iPhone mini, but the screen is quite small. When I connect to my TV it says casting to big screen is unavailable but can be added for an additional £5 a month. I was not told this when I questioned watching BT sports on my TV when I enquired about joining EE
When I check EE and BT sports info, it says this was introducted on 10/04/22 to counter piracy

How does charging customers an additonal £5 a month counter piracy exactly? Wouldnt I just be able to connect my phone to any screen - be it my personal home, someone elses or a public place and it will cast the content to big screen?

I've thought it has always been like that. It was advertised as 'watch on mobile device' when I looked at it a few years back, so i picked Apple Music.

Thanks. Do you know if it works in a tablet with an EE simcard?

Edit, it does work with an iPad so guess it works fine with certain devices, just not casting.
Is it not possible to open iOS apps on a Macbook? If it is, then there shouldnt be a problem as can take my Macbook air
For now, its good enough on iPad :)
