Lo guys. :)

Here's my current situation.

£18 something a month for BT option 1
Several £ charge every month for overuse
Regular conn throttling
Line max speed 1mb

Now, I have seen Sky are offering BB, Phone AND a basic Sky TV package all for just £16.50.

They also claim to be able to get 1.5mb out of my line, which at that speed, I need every decimal place I can get.

Is there any downside to this? What are Sky like for these services?

That Sky deal has a monthly download limit of 2gb which is a lot lower then the current BT one your on.

Is there no other LLU providers available to you like o2/be?

I've always found Sky to be very good. In the past (last house) I had the full package but now just use TV and Unlimited Internet. Looked at adding the phone but BT (I'm on unlimited anytime phone plan) offer free (up to 60 mins) calls to 0845 and 0870 numbers which Sky don't. It seems that most companies use these prefixes so for me it's cheaper to stay with BT at the moment.

Incidently most online checks indicate 1.5Mb for this line but I'm actually getting 12Mb.

Ive been on Sky for 2 years and never once had a single problem. I get around 14.5mb and use around 150gb - 200gb p/m.

Never seen any slowdown at peak times or high pings, the router however is slightly flakey and mine drops connection about twice a week.

I'm on the unlimited £10p/m and haven't looked anywhere else since I joined.

I've been on Sky for just over 1 year and i've had problems since day 1.

Games lag like anything and my average ping is about 90-120ms and download speed is only 2mb when i should be receiving about 10mb.

I've been on the phone to Sky so many times telling them that the issue is on their side as we've had BT come round and install a whole new line and rewire the house and they told us that it is Sky.

I'm switching to O2 broadband as apparently they are the best.

So, if you play games don't go with Sky, unless your a guy who prefers download speed to ping in games.

:)

perhaps you aren't aware of saynoto0870.com which finds an alternative local landline number for most companies (hence being free) :D
