We’re changing your BT Total Broadband terms and conditions

The change relates to a charge that may be applied, for example, if you switch to another provider and don’t use the standard migration process, or if you stop your broadband service altogether.

From 12th June 2009, the charge will be increased from £18.11 to £25 (prices inc VAT), and may be applied regardless of whether or not you’re within the minimum period of your contract.

To find out more about the charge, when it’s applied and why we’re doing this, please go to www.bt.com/ceasecharge

Just a heads up.

'and may be applied regardless of whether or not you’re within the minimum period of your contract.'

Seems a bit cheeky. Surely once you're out of contract you can do what you want.

I would have though there's a difference between "minimum period" of a contract and the contract expiring outright.

That’s BT for you at last l sore sense and had the opportunity to leave BT broadband after being stuck with them for 10yrs, who wants to pay BT option 3 =£29 a month and stuck in a 18 month contract, etc. I was lucky being a highly regarded customer as BT put it I was only paying £22 a month Op/3 connection, contract 12 months. LoL BT rang last night and asked if I wanted a BT credit card and being a highly regarded customer, etc, LOL l put the Asian caller out of her misery and said l,m no longer with BT. BT are offering anything to get people back, when is it going to sink in too BT people will no longer put up with their customer service, price’s, etc.

This is just them passing along what BT Wholesale charge for a cease. That's why it doesn't matter whether you're still in contract or not.
