We are moving into our new appartment next week and have been looking into sky, virgin media options.

No sky can be installed because dishes cannot be fitted on the building, there is no communal dish either. Cable is not in the area so no virgin media.

We would like to get Sports channels and it looks like BT Vision is the only option through the existing BT line. I called them and they said sports 1&2 are available and can get other channels like documentaries. These will be on demand but sports and other stuff will come through the aereal. Broadband speed is 8mb

Who has BT Vision or knows if its worth getting? He said for line rental, 8mb broadband and sports and other channels its £30 a month, which seems nice and cheap compared to Sky - guess there will be a nasty download cap with this
 
You could do Sky BB and phone, which is unmetered and then use Freeview and get Sky Sports on that?

There are download caps on BT, but I can't recall what they are - they'll be enough for normal use I'm sure, but not enough if you stream your TV etc.
 
I have BT vision and its fine, I also have sky sports. BT Vision is no SKy, hence it's only £12.50 a month, but I always have football too watch, which is the only reason I have it.

I didn't realise my flat could have Sky, but I have no complaints but will switch to Sky when my contract finishes as I miss the documentary channels.

The on demand stuff is pretty good, but if you watch TV every night for 4 hours then you may find it limited, but I just watch football and Dave really and erm get some US TV stuff from erm.... the news sites, yes the news sites.

I'm 90% certain you must have BT broadband or you can't get BT Vision, BT vision doesn't effect your cap, but mine is unlimited anyway. They will not take TV downloads away from your CAP or FUP.

I should have been clearer. I was meaning if he was using iPlayer, Netflix, YouTube.

What have I got on my TV then? Does it have Topup TV built in or something similar? I don't doubt what you are saying, I'm just wondering if I've got Freeview HD plus something else.
 
BT sell Sky Sports 1 & 2 through BT Vision, if you get unlimited bt vision I also got free ESPN. i player content is on bt vision.

i have unlimited 80nb fibre with bt
 
Espn Sounds good for free if you get unlimited BT. No documentaries is bad, we watch stuff like ray mears, bear grills etc quite a lot. - mainly sports, documentaries and music channels

Im sure Sky were launching a new service recently that allowed all sky channels through broadband. Will ring and check this....
 
There stuff on BT vision for docs, there is a whole category. It's just not as good as sky channels but keeps me entertained.

I'm just trying to be fair, Sky is better but BT vision is good value for the money.

Remember you will have to have BT bb

I spoke to sky, sky now 24 is coming soon but wont be until the end of the year at the earliest. This will allow all sky channels through broadband

Sky also offers upto 20mb broadband.

Its looking like bt vision, hopefully with unlimited broadband
 
BT Vision unlimited is £70 a month, you only get sports 1 & 2 and have to pay extra for on demand stuff like documentaries!

What a rip off
