I have just set up my new router and would like some kind soul to explain to me, exactly how to configure my router to let Bearshare through at max speed unfirewalled please. I have been on a website, and followed the instructions but I don't think I have the max speed down, although Bearshare is not flashing the 4th led yellow any more. This particular website talks about setting up ports for the router, yet when it came to putting the figures in for Bearshare and my router the data wasn't there.
Any help would be great thanks, and Happy Easter.

Yes Marc it was, the field at the bottom is blank, and I wasn't sure what info to put in there?

 you need to elaborate. what do you mean by that.... :p

edit: looking at the last pic, you can set up 3 rules for the virtual server. you can just use the 2 you need (1 tcp, 1 udp and leave the other blank)

that site does it for you. if you can't understand that....

oh well here goes. set the port in bearshare to 6348. now you need to make sure your pc has a static ip address. if your router ip address is 192.168.x.1

then your ip details on the pc should be as follows

ip address 192.168.x.2
default gateway 192.168.x1
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
primary dns server 192.168.x.1

so far, so good? :)

follow the steps on the site to set up a new virtual server>port forwarding>user defined

obviously the x has to match the 3rd digit in your router's ip address

Thanks Marc, I have done as above, yet Bearshare is still showing my TCP as firewalled, my UDP as not?? I have set up rules for both TCP/UDP as above with Bearshare default port of 6346?

hehe. i have no idea. isp block (unlikely)? you could however try some random high number port that won't be blocked like 20000 or something.....

My IP address is 86.13.XXX.XXX according to a website I just checked on, does this mean I have to set my own static one up or is this one it?? I have put this IP address in my rules for Bearshare ports and I still have the TCP firewalled and my download speed for this programe is very low.
Thanks BTW :)

nope the static ip address refers to the one on your internal network as i described here.....

the external ip address should not matter as it's covered under the setting "internet host ip address" and ALL is selected in that screenshot. :)

Sorted. Thanks for your time Marc. I changed my ip address again and it has Bearshare with green led's non-firewalled :)
Thanks again m8, Have a crackin' Easter weekend.
