Hi all,
I have a few issues to solve with the home network.
Old issue
Now TV Hub 2 (reskinned Sky Q hub I believe) wireless distance is terrible no matter what setting I change, even in same room (I think we have too many devices) Even the wireless TP link extender one room away says bad signal (was fine old provider), so... i,m running a very old Edimax router which sorts wifi issues distance wise, wireless extender for Mancave /office Wi-Fi, Powerlines for a none Wi-Fi device (work machine) and Blu-ray player.
Current issue
The Now TV hub 2 has no modem mode, which has complicated things and I now have occasional DNS issues.. phones on wifi fine eg, tablet says no internet access. It was tricky setting up the edimax device without a modem only mode on main hub. set up is not ideal.
So I need something that ideally does:
Fix the above and replace ancient Edimax router to solve Wi-Fi distance or DNS issue
Replace 3 old powerline TP Link adapters (500mbp)
Wi-Fi extension (TP Link) to office
BT whole home (4 discs) seems good for a couple of things but I'd still need the powerlines.
I did think replace sky hub with compatible router but.... its being relocated to a non Wi-Fi friendly place and I think we will go back to virgin when contracts up! so i'd ethernet from Nowtv current/virgin hub in future to new device in a Wi-Fi friendly place (same room)
Seems like I should be able to fix everything with one product.... feel like I'm missing something obvious Budget is £200.
TLDR:
Pants Wi-Fi with new provider, janky set up that partially resolves it, also need Wi-Fi extension for room far away and powerlines for none Wi-Fi devices.
Bt home would solve most of this apart from powerlines, I think, am I missing a better product?
Thanks all, AL
