BT - worst customer service, ever

We've been promised emails from managers, phone calls and engineers to come fix our problem the past week and had nothing.

Back story:

About a month ago I ordered a new phone line and broadband package online. I had an open live chat whilst placing the order to ensure I did everything correctly. I had explained to the woman I wanted a new phone line for my room and have a box fitted upstairs. She understood what I wanted and helped through the process.

Last week the engineer came out to fit in the new line, however did the completely opposite of what I wanted. We already have an existing line and broadband in the house, which is my parents. They're on Sky. What the engineer did was override the current line downstairs and fitted a BT line in its place. This completely screwed over my dads line and internet.

Since last Wednesday we've on the phone everyday and getting no where. BT say to phone Sky to reclaim their line, but Sky say BT need to revert the changes as they were at fault. Also the old existing line is still active, but there's not another line physically in the house, so Sky believes everything is fine and dandy. Wrong.

There should have been an engineer coming out today, but didn't show up. I just want this sorted and have this line upstairs and the old existing line re connected so my dad has his phone line and net back!

Not sure if this sounds confusing, but half the time we phone up, they don't even understand our problem and we get no where. I hope I get some sort of compensation for this mess up, or at least all phone calls the past week refunded.

That's why how ever good BT's products are, I could never go near them with a barge poll again.

The very minimum compensation would be the phone calls and credit for loss of service on your dads line.

I couldn't agree more. They have constantly ballsed up our business lines for years. Absolutely useless.

Yes, they're customer service really is terrible. Their automated phone system is a joke and it's impossible to speak to anyone with enough power/training to sort out anything but the most trivial of problems.

We moved into a new build property that wasn't connected from the front of the house to the joint box in the street. Despite explaining the situation to BT when I ordered (I specifically ordered over the phone so that I could explain the situation), we've now had 4 engineers out plus two no-shows and no-one has managed to put a line in the ground.

The worst part is that we've been told that if we make a formal complaint, our order will be delayed. What kind of customer service is that?
