Hi all, just left Virgin Media for BT and was wondering what there TV and Broadband services are like? We went for the Unlimited up to 16MB internet package and the Essential TV package with the Youview box?

Anyone with any experiences of BT's services? :)

The service is rubbish if you have any technical issues just get a brick wall and slam your head against it! If it isn't scripted then its not happening BT india who you will be talking to for tech stick to this like glue with limited tech knowledge about the service they provide tech for. I'm in the process of leaving at the mo, you can take a look at the BT customer forum thats a lot more useful than the BT Tech/Script department. Good luck

yeah I know what we get etc, just wondering the service they provide is any good. Internet speeds etc

It's very area dependant on the speed as it depends on how far from the exchange you are. You can use this to see how far you are from the exchange, as well as what speed you may get: http://www.samknows.com/broadband/broadband_checker

As for TV, I've no idea, I turned down the TV services as freeview is more than enough for me.

When they work (which is most of the time) BT's services are usually pretty decent, but when a problem does happen it can be a nightmare to get it sorted. I can count 3 instances in recent history where I had to escalate it to either the head of BT or the head of Openreach to get things solved that with most companies would be trivial to deal with through normal support channels but with BT the normal support literally has no script to deal with it and don't know how to help you.

(To be fair once it had been escalated to the top the problems were dealt with very quickly and efficently but its a pain for everyone involved that it has to be escalated to that level to get it sorted).

I agree with Rroff. I'm with BT and it's fine until I need to contact them for something, at which point you get some robot reading from a script that is unable to sort out even the most basic problems.

You will take a performance hit on internet speeds when the box is connected , as the system adjusts to make sure you have a stable connection for youview

well I only have brief experience with it from my ex gf ...... with talk talk . Its pretty good , but the annoying part is you cant record any of the live sky stuff , got to watch it , which means you cant record normal tv at the same time ( from memory , only brief use ) .
