BTEC or NVQ2

Can anyone tell me which one is the higher qualification ...BTEC or NVQ2. Its for my boy he's got to choose between BTEC in Air con and refrigeration or the NVQ 2 in same subject.

There are many diff levels of BTEC, what one do you mean ?

Roughly speaking....
NVQ level 2 = BTEC 1st Diploma or 4 GCSE's in anything.
NVQ Lev 3 = BTEC OND or 2 A Levels.
NVQ Lev 4 = BTEC HND/HNC or first 2 years of degree level (BSC)


Just for the record :

'Most' companies believe :

NVQs are a measure of competence to do a job
All other Academic Quals show how much an individual knows about a subject - ie. very easy to achieve if you have a good memory.

Something people forget & why I laugh at all the Degree better than ya de ya posts on here :

Thats why my HR dept makes employees do both at the same time ;)

I did a BTEC national diploma (allbeit in something else) and that was equivalent to 2 A levels back when I did it 96 -98.

I think its just a BTEC Advanced Diploma in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
