Hi All,

I'm trying to unlock BTHub3 to install OpenWRT software to install OpenVPN. I followed below links and have progressed half way. I'm now stuck with using telnet command on my Windows 10:

https://openwrt.ebilan.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=9
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsAAeHHEGfo
https://openwrt.org/toh/start

The command I have to give is telnet 192.168.1.254 4002, but I get this error message 'could not open connection to the host: on port 4002: connection failed'. But when I give 161 or 8080 for port number, it goes to telnet but stays there with a blank window forever...wouldn't load Busybox command as shown in the YT video.

Please could anyone help me

Thanks in advance

Zak

Not an answer to your question, but the BT Hub 3 is a decade old. How quick do you think a single 333Mhz ARM core can run OpenVPN?

From your question I don't think it'll be quick enough to give uninterrupted VPN WiFi then?

I need to get this router unlocked for a testing purpose.

Cheers

what you using to telnet CMD? couldn't get it to work in win 10 and downloaded a telnet program called putty

You need to enable the telnet client under Windows feature.

@zakmuh looking at the guide, have you checked what firmware version the HH3 is on? There's a downgrade guide on your first link which you could try, perhaps the later versions patched the port.

Thanks for your replies. Yes I have followed all the steps...downgraded to required version. I have enabled telnet and also have PuTTY and KiTTY installed. Its that the port 4002 is not working.

In CMD mode I use 'telnet 192.168.1.254 4002'

How could I find the correct port number, if I think 4002 is not the right one?
